Curriculum Intent
SMSC
At Parklands Primary School, we recognise that the personal development of pupils: spiritually, morally, socially and culturally, plays a significant part in their ability to learn and achieve their full potential. We believe the values of our school underpin the SMSC development of all learners. Our aim is to provide opportunities for our pupils to develop as independent, confident and successful learners with high aspirations who will know how to make a positive contribution to their community and wider society, both locally and globally.
Our school values work in harmony with British Values. Pupils are encouraged to respect and tolerate all members of our community regardless of their faith, race or culture. We value the positive contribution our pupils make towards the organisation and management of school life thus ensuring they understand how a democratic society functions. This in turn fosters a responsibility for their behaviour and encourages them to show initiative towards becoming global citizens.
SMSC is central to all areas of our school, not just the curriculum. Our pupil led groups, such as Pupil Council, Ambassadors, playground buddies, etc as well as cross curricula links with the local and wider community ensure the pupils understand the importance of these principles so they can make informed decisions in their lives.
