Home school support

Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Wendy Allison, and I am the Senior Home/School Support worker here at Parklands Primary School.

Within the role, I can be a listening ear and offer support, advice and guidance to parents/carers and families around specific issues you may appreciate support with. For example ;

  • Being concerned about your child’s behaviour, at home, school or both!
  • Being worried about your child’s emotional or social wellbeing
  • Support around adjusting to changes in the family home
  • Helping them with anxiety and building self-esteem
  • Understanding involvement of ‘Children and Young People Services’.
  • Domestic abuse and criminality and the impact on the child
  • Support and sign post to more specific and targeted services in the local community
  • Bereavement support
  • Mental health support for your child and/or family
  • Financial concerns/referral to Food bank etc

I liaise with school staff, always in the best interest of the children and their families. I work impartially and confidentially and can provide unbiased advice if you should ever need support.

I can offer you support to develop your employability skills, or source local training schemes and voluntary placements to improve your CV.

Within a previous role, I was the facilitator of a number of parenting programmes, therefore I can offer a listening ear or support around struggles we have all had at one time or another as parents.

As well as supporting children and families within my role, I will be supporting the school to promote good attendance. Therefore, if you are struggling to get your child into school, please contact me to see if I can offer you support and therefore prevent any escalation.

If you want to contact me, please email – wallison@parklands.havering.sch.uk, call the office and I will return your call, or catch me on the school gates at drop off time. Please keep an eye out for letters, emails and group messages for local events and groups that can support you and your family.
